Quartz is one of the most common minerals found on the surface of the Earth. Quartz is a natural form of silicon dioxide found in a wide range of colors and composition. Quartz is known for its strength and hardness. Quartz has many similarities to granite and thus has become a popular choice for countertops. Although some quartz countertops are manufactured from quarried slabs of the natural stone, most are engineered through a manufacturing process that mixes 90-95% percent ground natural quartz with polymer resins. The result is an extremely durable and stain resistant material.
